Gate access
Getting a dumpster through the gate
Canyon Lake is a privately gated community, and the Property Owners Association decides who comes in and through which gate. A roll-off truck is a commercial vehicle. The POA doesn't allow commercial or oversized vehicles through the Main Gate off Railroad Canyon Rd, so our truck comes in through the East Gate off Goetz Rd or the North Gate off Greenwald Ave.
The other half is registration. The POA runs guest access through GoAccess, its visitor management platform. Register BullDawgs there before drop-off day, so the truck isn't held at the gate while someone tracks you down.

The truck uses the East Gate off Goetz Rd or the North Gate off Greenwald Ave, never the Main Gate on Railroad Canyon Rd.

You get a 1–2 day window to load it. We come back through the same gates and take it away.

Placement
In your driveway, not the street
The can goes in your driveway, off the street. We lay wood planks under it to protect the concrete, and our 18-yard size was picked because it fits a standard driveway without hanging over the sidewalk.
Canyon Lake's POA has its own rules, though. Check with the POA on any rules about where a container can sit and how long it can stay before you book a longer rental.
The city pickup
CR&R bulky pickup
Canyon Lake's trash hauler is CR&R. The city says each residential customer gets two free bulky item pickups per calendar year, with extra pickups at a nominal charge. Book them with CR&R at (951) 943-1991 for your regular collection day.
That's the right call for a couch or a washer. It isn't built for a remodel, a garage that's been filling up for years or a yard project. That's when a dumpster, or a crew that does the loading for you, makes more sense.

Which gate does the dumpster truck use in Canyon Lake?
The East Gate off Goetz Rd or the North Gate off Greenwald Ave. The Canyon Lake POA requires all commercial, oversize and recreational vehicles to use those two gates, so a roll-off truck can't come in the Main Gate on Railroad Canyon Rd.
